Hip at 91!

Iris Apfel: Cover Girl!
We loved Dazed & Confused's Iris Apfel interview so much we had to share the pics and wonderful quotes from that fantastic article in their November issue.
Iris at 91 is the kind of role model everyone should have. An extremely intelligent business woman, textile expert, interior designer and prominent style icon, especially since a 2005 exhibition at the Met in New York.
On being active and enjoying life "Just because you get to a certain number doesn't mean you have to roll up into a ball and wait for the grim reaper. We were put on this earth to do something."
On fear of ageing "The advertising is disgusting. Cosmetics companies, in their ads use 16-year old models with flawless skin, then they retouch them until they look inhuman. Who can look like that?"
These mind-blowing clothes are all Comme des Garcons.
"My feeling has always been to dress to please myself. If somebody doesn't like what I'm wearing, it's their problem, not mine."
"You have to know who you are and what you can carry off. And learning who you are is not easy, so you have to work at it."
On her fame "I think it's hysterical. My husband and I laugh about it all the time, because I'm not doing anything different than I did 70 years ago, and all of a sudden I'm so hot and cool, and whatever the hell the kids say I am."
"I don't think fashion should be taken so seriously. It's something you should adapt to your mood and spirit."

With award winning Alexander Wang
"It's okay to take risks. The fashion police aren't going to come get you and put you in jail. All you can do is make a mistake, and what's so bad about that?"
Iris Apfel - Joanna Mastroianni - Front Row - Fall 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
At Joanna Mastrianni a/w 2012 show
Iris's brilliance with textiles has seen her work with Jacqueline Onassis, Estee Lauder and the White House on important restorations "If president's wives got involved in decorating God know's what we'd have."
On her mum being very accessory-conscious "She taught me how transformative accessories are, how they can take the same simple unadorned outfit from the morning to a cocktail party"
"I think getting dressed is wonderful and I love it, but there's a whole big world outside of the closet."

The whole interview in Dazed & Confused is eclectic and full of wisdom. Grab a copy!

Bond Girls Style

Naomie vs Berenice
The Skyfall premiere saw both the new Bond girls Naomie Harris and Berenice Marlohe wow everyone in Mario Scwab and Vivienne Westwood respectively. It was great to see Berenice go glam as so far her conservative style has seen Naomie over shadow her many times.
Naomi stuck with Mario Schwab for the after party whilst Berenice went for Julien MacDonald below.  Love the detail but that dress is too long

Earlier Naomie's Chanel dress made Berenice's Dolce & Gabbana look like office wear.

Berenice Marlohe Clothes
At the Oct 15th photo call Naomie went for Mario Schwab again and Berenice totally contrasted in a military coat. Her hair looks stunning down but Naomie's ready to party.

Bond looks the part here doesen't he? Javier's a fashion baddie in trousers that look like he's been crawling around on the floor.
Licence to thrill: The leading ladies were joined at the event by James Bond himself, Daniel Craig (C), and 007 villain Javier Bardem (R)

In April Daniel Craig and Ola Rapace did a 'Simon Cowell' and made little effort to match the girls. The slobs! Berenice resembled Monica Bellucci which is a big compliment. Whose dress would you rather wear though?

The guys did better in Madrid and the Lanvin dress Naomie's in is fantastic.

In February it was a Keira Knightly vibe for Berenice whilst Naomie went for Solange Knowles yellow.

Finally

When Berenice goes glam it's even stevens in the fashion wars.
We need more pics like this from Berenice.

By the powers invested in us though we pronounce Naomie overall winner.

Jean Paul Gaultier Goes 80s

Karlie Kloss as Boy George

Jean Paul Gaultier's s/s 2013 collection was as they described it
"An homage to all the pop stars of the 80s."
Shena Moulton
With the Grace Jackson look out first it started with traditionally Gaultier colours and tailoring and then got crazier with each pop star that followed.
Raquel as MJ
No one would tell you to 'beat it' in this look. The cut of the jacket rocks. The Annie Lennox looks included pinstripes and loud prints.
Hannelore Knuts as Annie Lennox
Madonna's look was more relevant to today's fashion.

Style.com reviewed that the Boy George and Bowie looks took the collection away from fashion now and into fancy dress territory.
Franzi Mueller as David Bowie
Personally we loved the Boy George looks and it got extensive coverage in the press. The maxi dress is cool.
Maria Kashleva as Boy George
Nothing fancy dress about Joan Smalls working the Sade look.

Sweet shoes.

Finally
Jean with Amanda Lear
We have loved both this collection and Jean's a/w show. We think he's a renaissance man doing great things.
